We love our Big Green Egg and the versatility of it. I know this recipe depends on having one, but I will work to adapt it for other cooking options in the future.
Big Green Egg Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers
Ingredients:
12 jalapeno peppers, halved and deveined
8 oz cream cheese
12 strips of bacon
1 C sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
8 oz cream cheese
12 strips of bacon
1 C sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Big Green Egg Sweet and Smoky seasoning (or use combination below) + extra
Big Green Egg Sweet and Smoky seasoning hack:
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp sweet paprika
1 1/2 Tbsp date or coconut sugar (or brown sugar if you are ok with that)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp dried, ground mustard
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Instructions:
1. Set the EGG for indirect cooking with the convEGGtor at 400-degrees
2. Mix together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
3. Fill each halved jalapeno pepper with cream cheese mixture and sprinkle with the Big Green Egg Sweet and Smoky seasoning.
4. Wrap each jalapeno with half a piece of bacon and top with Big Green Egg Sweet and Smoky Seasoning.
5. Bake for 25 minutes until bacon is crispy and browned. Enjoy immediately!
